Everything you need to know about DateCue.
A metafield is a custom field you can add to any Shopify product. A date metafield stores a specific date — like a launch date, expiry date, or sale-end date. DateCue watches these dates and automatically triggers actions when they arrive.
No. DateCue is a fully no-code app. You set up workflows through a simple interface — pick a metafield, set a trigger, choose an action. No scripts, no Liquid, no developer needed.
DateCue supports four actions: add or remove a product tag, change product status (Active, Draft, Archived, or Unlisted), send a staff email alert, and fire a webhook to an external system. You can create multiple workflows for different metafields and different actions.
Once a product is synced, DateCue checks for due actions every minute — so your workflow fires within a minute of the scheduled date and time. New products and date changes are picked up by the background sync, which runs every 5 minutes. If you want something picked up immediately, use the Sync Now button in the app.
DateCue picks up the new date on the next sync (within 5 minutes) and reschedules the action automatically. The old scheduled action is cancelled and replaced with a new one based on the updated date. You can also hit Sync Now in the app to pick up the change immediately.
DateCue syncs your products every 5 minutes in the background, checking Shopify for new products and updated metafield dates. Your workflow actions still fire within a minute of their scheduled time — the sync just controls how quickly new dates are discovered. If you've just set a date and want DateCue to pick it up right away, use the Sync Now button on the dashboard.
DateCue is a standalone alternative to Flow for date-based automation. If you've been hacking together Flow workarounds to react to product dates, DateCue handles that natively — no triggers, conditions, or maintenance required.
Yes. Each workflow supports optional filters: you can limit it to products with a specific status, include only products with certain tags, or exclude products that have specific tags.
